Learn to Ski & Ride Weekend - Learn More on the North Shore

When: From 12/13/2008 to 12/14/2008
Squaw Valley joins other North Lake Tahoe resorts for this regional Learn to Ski & Ride weekend. First time skiers and snowboarders are eligible for $25 beginner packages all weekend, space permitting. Cost includes equipment, beginner lift ticket and instruction. Adults, follow the green balloons to the Far East/Papoose Discovery Center where you can join in a lesson any time between 9:00am and 3:00pm. Details: 530-583-6985. TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra presents HANDEL'S MESSIAH

Beginning at 3:30pm, a truly extraordinary holiday afternoon is slated for the Sierra Grand Ballroom with a symphony and choir. Maestro James Rawie will conduct the performance. TOCCATA vocal soloists include sopranos Maria Arrigotti, Joy Strotz and Anna Helwing; mezzo sopranos Marianne Ashley and Susan Sonnemaker; tenors Andy Sonnemaker, Fahad Siadat, and Kevin Beiswinger; and baritone Stuart Duke. TOCCATA Orchestra features Rose Sciaroni as concertmaster; David Brock, Matt Linaman, Ben Benson and Ben Wallack for continuo; and Mark Lord and William Van Meter on Baroque trumpets.Â

Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade

A traditional family favorite, the Christmas Eve torchlight parade can be seen from anywhere in the Village or Squaw Valley base area. Watch in amazement as Squaw Valley Ski School instructors descend the lower mountain carrying brightly lit torches in a beautiful procession of lights. Parade begins at dusk on Christmas Eve.
